THE SHORT FILM
Director: Joe Pytka

Michael Jackson’s short film for “Heal the World” was the fifth of nine short films produced for recordings from Dangerous, Michael’s fourth album as an adult solo performer. As a single, “Heal the World” reached the Top 5 in 10 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, The Netherlands and New Zealand. Michael founded a charity named after the song in 1992, embarking on the Dangerous World Tour in 1992 and 1993 to raise money for the Heal the World Foundation. He later called “Heal the World” the song he was proudest to have written during a web chat with fans in 2001.

The “Heal the World” short film, assembled by director Joe Pytka (who’d previously directed Michael in “The Way You Make Me Feel” and “Dirty Diana”), continued Michael’s goal of making art and music that would inspire worldwide peace, love and tolerance, and improve the conditions of our planet for the sake of future generations. As with the “Man in the Mirror” short film, Michael does not appear; instead, footage filmed around the world showcases a diverse group of children, united in their abilities to love unconditionally and their wishes for a brighter world.
