On this date in 1988, Michael Jackson became the first artist is music history to have five consecutive #1 singles from one album when “Dirty Diana” topped the Billboard Hot 100.

“Dirty Diana” was one of a string of hits from the album Bad – a multiplatinum juggernaut that debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 on September 26, 1987. The album was later certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 10 million copies in the United States alone, and is estimated to have sold more than 35 million copies worldwide. One week before Bad made its chart debut, its first single, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” hit #1 in the Billboard Hot 100.

The success of the first single was followed by Michael’s next #1 song, the title track “Bad,” which topped the chart just one month later on October 24, 1987. The next three singles – “The Way You Make Me Feel” (#1 on January 23, 1988), “Man In The Mirror” (#1 on March 26, 1988), and “Dirty Diana,” established the consecutive record, which remained unmatched for 25 years.

Bad generated 10 singles in all, and remained in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 for 38 weeks. Listen to what makes this album special here: https://MichaelJackson.lnk.to/badalbum
