On this date in 2003, Michael Jackson made a surprise visit to the 3rd annual BET Awards to give James Brown a lifetime achievement award. It wasn’t the first time The King of Pop met The Godfather of Soul, as Brown invited Michael on stage to perform with him at the Beverly Theater in 1983. #BlackMusicMonth
