EAST AFRICA NEEDS THE WORLD’S HELP

In 1985, Michael joined with Lionel Richie to write the anthem “We Are the World” sung by USA for Africa to give voice to the cries of millions of people – especially children – who were suffering from famine on the African continent. Through those efforts, people worldwide extended a hand as relief money was raised and supplies were sent to Africa to those who desperately needed them. Sadly, 26 years later famine has renewed its grip on another generation of Africans. Some estimate hundreds of thousands of people could die as a result if relief isn’t forthcoming. As the startling images in this video featuring the song, ‘High Tide Or Low Tide’ by Bob Marley and the Wailers, show, the suffering that stirred Michael to action with “We Are the World” continues today. The people and children of Africa still need hope. Michael isn’t here to help alleviate this suffering but we are. Please do whatever you can to help.
