Michael Jackson’s HIStory Album 32-Foot Statue Debuts In London On This Date in 1995

This week in 1995, the ambitious global marketing plan for HIStory album started rolling out. To remind people of the grandeur of Michael’s career and the expansiveness of this two-disc set, Sony built nine individual 32-foot statues of Michael, each weighing 42,000 pounds. They were modeled from a clay sculpture designed by Diana Walczak which was also digitized and used for the album cover. The first giant sized Michael appeared on June 15th in the UK, floating on the River Thames in London. Do you know what other cities played host to the giant-sized Michael as part of the campaign?
