Here’s a portrait of Michael Jackson, AKA, the “King of Pop.” He was a best-selling American singer, songwriter, and dancer. As a child, he became the lead singer of his family’s group, the Jackson 5. The 13-time Grammy Award winner expired in 2009 at age 50. Jackson’s music career began at age 5 under his father’s encouragement.
He released his debut solo album at 13 with Got to Be There (1971), making the charts with the title track.
Jackson succeeded greatly with the release of his solo album Thriller (1982), which is recognized as the best-selling album of all time, having over 66 million copies sold globally. It remained on the charts for 80 weeks after its release, holding the No. 1 spot for 37 weeks.
