Michael Jackson Video of The Week: Man In The Mirror
Man in the Mirror peaked at number one in the United States when released as a single in early 1988 off his seventh solo album, Bad. It is one of Jackson's most critically acclaimed songs and it was nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks.
The song was written and composed by Siedah Garrett (who can be heard singing in the background with Jackson) and Glen Ballard. Jackson added background vocals from Garrett, The Winans and the Andrae Crouch Choir, which gave the song its distinctive sound.
Man in the Mirror is video is unique because Michael Jackson himself does not appear in the video (aside from a brief clip toward the end of the video in which he can be seen donning a red jacket and standing in a large crowd). Instead, it featured a montage of footage from various major news events such as nuclear explosions, the John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy assassinations, the Iranian hostage crisis, Live Aid, Farm Aid, and notable people including Martin Luther King, Raúl Alfonsín, Lech Wałęsa, Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Mahatma Gandhi, Anwar El Sadat, Menachem Begin, Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Rosa Parks, Ronald Reagan, and Pieter Willem Botha.

Posted by xomjxo on Oct 08, 2010 at 6:05 PMi love the song "man in the mirror". I love how his songs speaks out to people. I have heard his song "keep the faith" and that is one of them. I love listening to his songs. His songs are lessons people all around the world can learn from. Like his song "keep the faith" the lesson there is to believe in yourself to know that you can do whatever you want to to reach a certain goal in your life. The song "man in the mirrr" is also another lesson to make the world a better place and to make a difference in your world and community. I love the ballads he songs. LOVE YOU MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by kingmij on Aug 25, 2010 at 6:41 PMThis video is so inspiring to everyone out there. Michael Jackson was so many wonderful things and more. I cant even begin to start saying how much of a god given talent he is and now was and he truly did gods work. He is the most charitable entertainer/celebrity ever. That tells you so much about him in just knowing that. He was sent to this earth to do a job and that is to show everyone that love is the most important thing of all and if we all loved eachother this world would be a much better place. But you see Michael did it in a way that was entertaing for us but still very inspiring and meaningful. Through his dance, his songs, and through his charity work. He is more than just a great person and a great artist, more than a wonderful guy. He is undescribable and uncomparible. People out there who only have negative cooments refferring to michael. (f*** YOU)! you obviously didnt know who he was because if you did you would be pouring your hearts out to him and his family. When I saw "This Is It" i was so excited to see him a guy that my mom and dads generation speak of. A man whom is "THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THAT EVER LIVED". I had forgotten that he was really gone until I heard the beginning of man in the mirror in the movie. My stomach literally squeezed up and i could not feel a thing throughout my whole body. I just want to say that I am so very glad that Iwas old enough to know who he was and feel him so much that I cried. I will miss you Michael. There is not a day i dont remember you , think of you, or listen to your words,. God bless you Michael Joseph Jackson!

Posted by MichaelJJackson4eva on Aug 12, 2010 at 10:25 PMOh, my goodness! I love this video so much!
"Man in the Mirror" makes me cry, still to this very day. I don't know what it is about that song, but even without the video, it's so moving. You can see that Michael really connected with the meaning, and he is sincere in what he's saying. This is the song that really sold me on him, the first time I listened to MJ's Bad album. It convinced me that Michael was for real with everything that he preaches in his songs, and that he really is this amazing guy.
I couldn't listen to this song last year. It would make me too sad. I would always thing, "Geez, what a huge loss. Look at what he left behind!" I wasn't able to listen to it until January of this year, and when I did, it was like I'd been asleep and suddenly someone woke me up. I cried hard, and I still do when I hear it. It just tears at my soul.
I love this video, I love Michael. RIP, babe.
