Re: Off The Wall
I like all Michael Jackson CDs and is hard to choose one, but Rock With You is one of my favorite songs
Great Album!
Re: Off The Wall
Let me just say this: This has got to be the closest thing MJ has gotten to a fully, I mean totally full-on, perfect album. Wait, this album IS perfect!!!! The tracks are amazing. The vids are great. It's just perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the one of MJ's best and one of THE best.....ever. May you rest in peace, Michael Jackson.
Re: Off The Wall
"Off The Wall" is the definitive dance-club record of 1979-80. It was the soundtrack to my NYC clubbing nights - and it's a testament to Michael Jackson the artist that this record stands the test of time. "Off The Wall" has all the promise and joy of what's to come in Michael's music career.
Michael's wispy voice - "...You make me feel like..." at the start of "Don't Stop" gives no clue to the explosive percussion and brass rhythms that follow. "Don't Stop" is a showcase for Michael's dynamic songwriting and a prelude of things to come. I remember hearing this for the first time in 1979 and asking, "That's Michael Jackson? Wow!" His soulful, multi-layered vocals embrace you and twirl you around the dance floor. Michael's a great "bridge" maker and "Don't Stop" has one of his hottest - the big percussion and guitar riffs bursts out at you. Listen to the demo on the Special Edition to hear Michael at work putting every layer of sound together. If this song can't make you get up and dance and put a smile on your face, nothing will.
There are few musical collaborations that can equal the Michael Jackson-Quincy Jones-Rod Temperton magic that continues into "Thriller." How many nights did I rock away dancing to the soul-rock beat of "Rock With You!" When I saw him perform this at MSG during the Bad Tour, we chanted back at him: "Love survives so we can rock forever on." I can't listen to this fabulous song without dancing again to the rocking beat - singing "All night" along with Michael and wiping away a tear because this song was It in the NYC club scene for a long time and it brings back great memories of those wild nights.
I love the scat-type vocals that lead into Michael's own "Workin' Day and Night." This is another song that reigned supreme in concert. I saw him perform this at MSG and later at Wembley (Dangerous Tour). The words are blues, but Michael creates a funky rock beat and harmonies with a dynamite brass and percussion bridge. WD&N is a showcase for his vocal "Michaelisms" as I'd call them - his "Ah - ah" "Yeah - ah" "Well - ah" and "Chicka-choos" the way he could stretch out a sound and work his vocal range with extraordinary ease. When I later learned that every sound on Michael's records were Every Sound Michael heard in his head - that is simply amazing and a true illustration of his great genius.
"Get On The Floor" a Jackson-Louis Johnson collaboration has a great disco dance beat that takes hold and doesn't let you go. Michael plays with his vocal range: "Why don't you just dance across the floor." Michael chose songs that were a perfect match for his unique style. He really has fun with the Afro beat-talking drum chant: "Get up won't you g'on get down..." is infectious!
If there is one song that defines this moment in time (1979-80), Rod Temperton's "Off The Wall" has it all. A song only Michael Jackson could perform. There's a hard rockin' dance beat that always puts a smile on my face. He starts off with a hint at what's to come with "Thriller" - childlike, then spooky laughter - then he bursts into a funky rock beat and moves into "We're the party people night and day" then his smooth harmonies in the chorus "Live your life off the wall" sweep you up in the dance. A joyous anthem to youth.
Michael's sweet, innocent, and playful voice is perfect for the pop song. "Girlfriend" by Paul McCartney. Michael adds his own r&b feel and makes it bigger and soulful.
"She's Out Of My Life" is a beautiful, mature ballad that Michael should have written himself, (Tom Bahler did) but once again, this is a perfect match for his voice and personality. You have to see him perform this "live" in order to feel the "full Michael effect." He came out to the audience and sang to each one of us as if we were the only ones in the room. That's how close Michael was to knowing how his fans felt about him. Here is the vulnerable Michael that I love - a man not afraid to cry and show his true emotions.
Very few artists could recreate a Stevie Wonder (and Susaye Greene-Brown) song, but Michael's version of "I Can't Help It" is a real tribute. Backed by arrangements with a Jobim feel, Michael's voice is like fine silk and a soft embrace throughout - until he breaks with a final soulful plea.
The Sager-Foster composition. "It's the Falling In Love," is a pure pop duet with Patti Austin. Michael's multi-range voice is the chorus and "Cry cry cry" harmonies. I thought it was pretty daring for a mostly R&B singer (at that time) to sing an unabashed pop song but Michael ahs a maturity in this duet - and we'll see this come to ultimate fruition in his own romantic ballad duet, "I Just Can't Stop Lovin' You."
"Off The Wall" closes out with Temperton's funky rock "Burn This Disco Out." There's a Jackson Five soulful "Move on out" harmonyand the syncopated bridge that builds togetherwith the brass.
With the masterful production of Quincy Jones and innovative arrangements by Johnny Mandel, "Off The Wall" will remain an enduring classic.
Re: Off The Wall
Millones de estrellas para el rey!!
Re: Off The Wall
I must say it. I MUST. This album is so amazing. All of the R&B and jazz and pop mix together to make such a catchy album. He worked hard, and this album was greatly over looked. He only got ONE grammy. ONE. This deserved all of the grammies.
Let's talk songs shall we?
Don't stop 'til you get enough: This song is extremely catchy. He gets unreally high, and it is so jazzy it just makes me want to dance. 10/10
Rock with you: This song is always stuck in my head. Whenever I am trying to do something productive, this song plays over and over in my mind. That is this song's only fault. It is too catchy. 10/10
Workin' Day and Night: Love. this. song. It is so amazing! The beat is so different, and his voice works perfectly for the lyrics. He knows exactly how to set his tone for this one. 10/10
Off the Wall: We're the party people day and night... Only when you listen to this song do you want to actually go out and live the crazy night life. You really get a feel of the club scene with this song. 10/10
Girlfriend: This song is not particularly memorable. This isn't a favorite, though that may just be because Mike didn't write it. Paul McCartney did. So.. That is probably my problem with this song. 9/10
She's out of my Life: This song never fails to make me cry! It is so emotional. You can tell he gave everything he had to this song. He cries often when he preforms this song(: How adorable. 10/10
I can't help it: Again, not so memorable. I have to think a little in order to remember the lyrics. The rythm is really good though(: 8/10
It's the falling in Love: AHHH! I love this song! Soo beautifully sung..(: I have 0 problems with this song. 10/10
Burn this Disco out: Perfect for dancing. I love this with 100% of my heart(: ♥ 10/10
Over all, this has to be one of his best albums, though all are THE best out of all of the music. I cannot pick favorites when it comes to Michael. All of his songs and albums are so good, you cannot exlcude the rest just to pick a favorite. He was a good preformer, person, father, and everything else(: ♥♥♥
Love for Mike!!!
R.I.P.♥
OFF THE WALL! ♥♥♥♥♥♥
HEY PEOPLE! IT'S ME AGAIN! tHIS CD IS AWESOME! TAKE MY WORD! MJ IS AWESOME! EITHER BUY THE CD OR BUY ON ITUNES OR STUFF LIKE THAT!
Re: Off The Wall
OFF THE WALL!!!! I love that song very much, it was like the type of song that you would listen to if you were at a party and you were really shy. OFF THE WALL was really tight, i loved the beat/ ( i loved all of MJ's beats) but that was one of the best songs from the 70's YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN MJ, I LOVE YOOOOOOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Off The Wall
The first album i ever adored, off the wall was & is my all time favorite I was just a baby but it showed i had awesome taste.

Re: Off The Wall
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this album! I kan never get enogh of this album! next to thriller, this is the best album of all time!
Re: Off The Wall
This album is the one! From begining to end, the party never stops! This album was the begining of genius at work! Put this in and press shuffle, you won't be disappointed! The only thing I could say about this album now is it's tells it's age like it's the penicale of the 80's! I guess it seems 80's because after this album & Thriller, everybody follow his blueprint from these 2 records, lol
Still a classic!
Re: Off The Wall
THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME,IT'S UNIQUE..I LOVE ALL THE TRACKS ON THIS ONE..VERY SOULFUL...THIS ALBUM WAS A START TO A BEAUTIFUL SOLO CAREER WITH QUINCY JONES.
Re: Off The Wall
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mikes best work, WORKING DAY AND NIGHT, Girlfriend, Off The Wall, She's out of my life. Oh Mike really out did himself. I played this album until I couldnt play it no more. Now its on my IPOD and I never get tired of it. Many CUDOS went to Mike on this one. The best album he ever made.
LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP
Re: Off The Wall
I absolutely love dhis album. Every time I listen 2 it, it takes me on a journey, to a whole new world (corny I kno but it's tru.) This album is different from anything I've ever listened to. I wuz born in da 90's where u no longer use actual instruments to make music, but in 'Off the Wall' he uses trumpets, horns, saxophones, etc. and it wuz so incredible 2 me how it made the music sound so much realer (if that makes any sense!) I love every song on this album. I love the simplicity of 'Girlfriend, the mellowness of ' I Can't Help It', the extreme sadness of 'She's Out Of My Life', andthe wierd, creative noices in, 'Workin Day N Night', 'Get On The Floor', and 'Off the Wall'. This album is SOOOOOOOOOO amazing.
Re: Off The Wall
I love every song! Michael Jackson is the BEST!
Re: Off The Wall
He's the best! He has made the best music, that have ever existed! And the same with his incredible moves
! ♥ u MJ!
ONE OF MICHAEL JACKSONS BEST ALBUMS
Song by song review (my point of view)
- Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough: WONDERFUL SONG!!! it makes me wanna dance all night long! cool video also! it all started here!
- Rock With You: This spectacular song is just beautiful!! the melody is so perfect!
- Workin' Day And Night: Same feeling as "Don't Stop..."
- Get On The Floor: Has the classic 80's beat
- Off The Wall: Kind of the first impressions of thriller (for the laughs at the beggining) LOL
- Girlfriend: Paul McCartney's beat
- She's Out Of My Life: One of the best ballads of Michael, he feels it so much during the entire song!
- I Can't Help It: LOVE IT!! great song than unfortunately was not released as a single, I dream of seeing Michael perform this song
- It's The Falling In Love: Not the best one of the album and not much to say about it
- Burn This Disco Out: Don't like it much, same feeling like the one above.
The cover is very cool!! It became an icon to identify Michael.
Underrated!
I think Off The Wall is one of Michael's underrated albums. It has a lot of great songs, like Don't Stop 'til you Get Enough, Rock With You, and Off The Wall, of course there's more. This album makes you want to dance, with the exception of Shes Out Of My Life, which is one of MJ's classic ballads! This album deserves more attention than it gets.
Cover.
Hi.
I bought the album 'Off The Wall', the danish version(Same Cover, same songs, it's just bought in DK), but on the backside, it looks like he is holding a phone, is that right?
I <3 U MJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this album some months ago to listen to his earlier work. Even though it's not his best album, some of the songs are really nice. His Thriller, Bad and Dangerous are much better
:p To sum up, Michael Jackson is the best singer and dancer in the world!!!
love it
BEST ALBUM EVER:::::
LET'S GROOVE!
Even though I wasn't alive when this album came out it still makes me want to get up and boogie!
my fav album of all time!
my mum played all his albums but this one holds a special place in my heart! i luv the funky disco elements to the tracks and i believe micheal and quincey jones produced an absoulte musical masterpiece! theres no mistaking thriller and bad will always be most people favourites..but we shouldnt forget where it all began for micheal when he went solo..and in my eyes this album will always be timeless!
Wow!
A great album and excellent songs! Full of fresh energy! Michael's voice sounds very smooth and charming on this album. I especially enjoy the rhythms of Working Day and Night, Get on the Floor and Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough. Those songs make me wanna dance like crazy everytime I hear them!
The Beginning
This was basically what put his career into the sky, but than thriller came and rocketed it into space!
now 30 years later, we find michael making a farewell tour. what a truly amazing career michael.
30 years later still "off the wall"
This august celebrating 30 years of non stop "off the wall" amazing how fresh this album is even through the years! Cant beat hit tracts "Dont stop till you get enough" "Rock with you" "Burn this disco out", "Shes out of my life", "off the wall", "Working day and night" and "Get on the floor" truley a masterpiece! Personally best album ever!! Every song makes you want to get up and sing! HAPPY 30TH OFF THE WALL!

Burn This Disco Out
I wish he would have played more material from this album in the 90s. There are some timeless songs here. The production is very 70s disco, but the actual SONGS are timless.
Always jam to this one in the summertime.
This is when it all began!!
I grew up on michael Jackson and My parents would play this album all the time. I fell in love with his voice and how his songs are always fresh never out of style. Thats when I began buying all his album and all of them is my favourite. Its so hard to not like Michael Jackson, He\'s the king and He\'s a great man
.
Ian xx
This one shouldn't be over looked!
This is a great album and its a shame Burn This Disco Out isn't more well known cuz it's brilliant! And Michael looks cute on the cover, looking all young and sweet! Exellent album.

MICHAEL UR LIVIN' OFF THE WALL!!!!
OFF THE WALL IS AMAZING!!! I LOVE EVERY TRACK AND I LOVE MJ'S SMOOTH AND FUNKY VOICE. THIS IS A GREAT ERA, GREAT LOOK, GREAT MUSIC, GREAT EVERYTHING!!! I CAN'T STOP 'TIL I GET ENOUGH!!! TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!!
Really Great, Lovin' this CD ever since I got it, It makes me want to dance like Michael and exactly like him!
This is another really great album, I can't say it's my favorite or the best one out of all of them because I love all the albums, Cd's, movies, and books Michael has created and illuminated the world with, they are all great, awesome, outstanding, "Off the Wall", "Bad", they are what people want to hear, they are all legends, Michael himself is a legend. Just say Michael Jackson and people know right away what you're talking about. Michael thanks for illuminating the world with your talent and gift!!!
OFF THE WALL IS OFF THE WALL!!
Unbelievable! Michael really showed everyone what it takes to be a solo artist. He showed that he was able to hold his own without his brothers. Love the disco tracks!! LOVE THIS ALBUM!! CLASSIC!!
1st album and of course, not least!
Just awesome! Excellent! The best!
He can do everything¡
I had this album as a gift from an aunt, i thought that it had just a couple of good songs, but i was totally wrong!
It's an unvaluable piece of disco, pop and ballads, I feel really identified with Michael's feelings when he's about to cry at the end of She's out of my life...
And the rest is pure dance invitation
Still
I still listen to his album all the time it is one of my favorites even though it was amde long before I was born. It wasent the lyrics or the beat that drew me in the most. It was Michael's wonderful voice and talent.
An \"unforgetable\" album
Off The Wall is an incredible good choice from Michael Jacksons collecttion. It was one of the best selling albums in the 70s and 80s, and contains the unforgetable singles; Don\'t Stop \'Til You Get Enough, Rock with You, Off the Wall, She\'s out of My Life and Girlfriend. Off the Wall recieved 7x Platin in the US, 6x Platin in the UK, 4x Platin in Australia, 2x Platin in Japan, 2x Platin in France, 1x Platin in Canada and 1x Gold in Brazil.
The album starts out with Don\'t Stop \'Til You Get Enough, and is breathtaking. The first time I listened to that song, my heart was pounding two times every second. It\'s refreshing and new. The rythm is also very comfortable. It\'s not too heavy, and at the same time it\'s not too light. It\'s simply perfect. The next song in the row is Rock With You. Rock With You is also a great song. They all are. But this is one of the songs you really fall in love with. I would go as far, as saying this was actually the best song on the album.
I could continue with this, and just keep telling you how good Off the Wall is. But I decide not to, \'cause you can read all these things about the CD on wikipedia. In stead I will tell you, why this album is such a good investing. It never gets old. Everytime you listen to it, you\'ll notice something new in Michael Jacksons music. Off The Wall is produced by the legendary Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson himself. It was recorded on December 4, 1978 - July 7, 1979, and released on August 10, 1979.
My last word in this review will be, if you haven\'t yet bought this memerable CD, then buy it right away, \'cause you won\'t regret it. Four stars.

This album will make you totally fall in love with Michael!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, is the feeling that comes to mind when I think of this album. "Its the Falling in Love," "Can't Help It," "Rock With You," "Girlfriend," and "She's Out of My Life" will make you melt into lush, warm goodness. "Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough" and "Get On the Floor" are soooo sexy! "Working Day and Night," Off the Wall," and "Burn this Disco Out" are such fun. They make you feel alive! They make you wanna move!
