I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...

The Person...

He was the one person in the world like me and I felt would understand me. I had a rough childhood, homelife, and school life. I was the only Christian in my house growing up. And i was pretty much the only kind person in my house and school. I was made fun of every day. There weren't many people I could relate to. I started feeling boxed in. I didn't fit in. I wasn't following crowds or being mean to others. I was a kind and caring person. And as we all know... thats not the coolest thing in the world as you enter middle and high school. I saw the world the way Michael did.

I was already a fan of Michael. All my life. People around me would always tell me to watch his feet. I always gravitated to him as a child. But he won me over when he did his interview with Oprah in the 90's. I became a die-hard fan when I got a MJ impersonator for my 13th bday party in 1993. I loved him ever since and tried countless times to meet him and see him in concert.

Then he did the interview in 1995 right after his HIStory album. I remember watching him and his heart and I truely felt he would be the one person in the world who would understand me. He was just like me. The same kind heart. And simply because he was a naturally caring, non judging person.

The Artist

I can't tell you how many times I turned off the radio during the 90's because everthing after 1993 started sounding the same. No one was being an artist. Everyone stayed on one style and rap was no longer rap. Music changed drastically when they knocked Michael down. People didn't work like they had anything to compete with. Michael because of the trial was tainted. But I would put on Michael's albums all the time. Because he never ever tried to sound like anyone else. He remained innovative and original. This groomed the artist in me. To be orginial.. to not follow fads... to stay true to your sound.

I love his music... His voice... the artist today do not have notes in their voices. He could sing. He could dance. Not copy a choreographed routine. He's my only artist. I wanted to work with him....

...and to this day... if i have a bad day. It takes Michael's music... Because of his voice, heart, and caring soul, it takes hearing him and his music to make my day better. I can only spend so much time with the music now that he's in Heaven. It hurts so much that he's gone. But Michael saved my life. He inspired me as a person and an artist. I was entering a tough time when I saw that interview with him. Had I not heard him say how strong he was being during the nonsense of being falsely accused in 1993... I'm not sure how strong I've would have been. Thank you Michael. I love you forever. I am the person and artist I am today because of you. I look forward to meeting you and working with you in Heaven.
