I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...

I always liked MJ... loved Off the Wall, probably had Thriller, but I don't remember. Then my music tastes changed and I stopped listening to him, except when he came on the radio. I never bought into the pedophile thing, but I do remember feeling bad that he seemed so odd. And I have to admit, I was a bit startled by some of his behavior.

Then when he died, I decided to dig into WHY I didn't buy into the pedophile stuff, and through my research, I realized that he was railroaded beyond belief. And it really pissed me off. So the more research I did, the more captivated I became by MJ. And captivated is the word. I came to realize that while he's not a saint, he was a genuinely good guy.

I was talking to my son, who is eight, sort of wondering out loud why I am now so fascinated by all things MJ. And, wise little soul that he is, he said, "Well, you know how it is when you lose something that you thought you had, you appreciate it more." Couldn't have said it better myself.

I miss MJ, which is odd. And I miss knowing that he's on the planet. I hope he's somewhere else, dancing.
