You will make far more $$ with a long release and it will in no way impact DVD sales because everyone will still buy the DVD. I for one want to see it several time in theatre. However, even seeing it once is almost impossible, the demand will far outweigh the supply of theatre seats. You will still get your DVD $$ - don't do this to the fans!
