Los Angeles, CA - On Tuesday, after the nominations were in, Michael Jackson led the way for male artists with 5 nominations, including Artist of the Year. Only Taylor Swift, who earned 6 nominations, had more.

Both are nominated for Artist of the Year, along with Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Kings of Leon.

Michael Jackson also received nominations for Favorite Male Artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B category. His collection of solo chart toppers, "Number Ones", received nominations for favorite album of the year in the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories also.

Nominees are determined by a combination of retail sales and radio airplay, but the award winners will be selected by the public through online voting.
